From Barbie's Princess Closet to the Wall: DIY Dress-Up Shadowboxes

We love funky decor at the Taylor Joelle warehouse, and we felt that this new project was the perfect vibe!  How cute would these princess dresses be in a kid's princess themed bedroom?

Enter the shadowbox!

I found a pack of six pristine white shadowboxes on amazon and with a fresh coat of pastel paint on the back panels (think cotton candy pink, dreamy lavender, and sunshine yellow!), they were transformed into the perfect miniature art galleries.

Voila! Instant artwork!

Here's what you'll need:

  • A collection of Barbie dresses (thrifted finds or an eBay haul work perfectly!)
  • Shadowboxes (choose a size that complements the dresses you have)
  • Craft paint in an assortment of pastel colors
  • Fabric scissors
  • Hot glue gun

Let's get crafting!

  1. Paint Party! Choose your favorite pastel paints and give the back panels of your shadowboxes a makeover. Two or three coats should do the trick.

  1. Dress Up Time! Try on your Barbie dresses in the shadowboxes to see how they fit. If they're a little too long, carefully trim them with fabric scissors.

  1. Lights, Camera, Action! Once you're happy with how your dresses look, use the hot glue gun to secure them to the back panels of your shadowboxes.
